As “Yellowstone” fans await an official announcement of the Season 4 premiere, they’re starting to get a little restless. And not without reason, because the past three seasons have all premiered on or around June 20. As that date rapidly approaches with no announcement out, anticipation has turned to resignation.
Some fans are now suggesting that the Olympics may be one reason for the Season 4 premiere’s delay. In a thread on Reddit, they kicked around potential explanations and predictions for when the season premiere will actually be.
“Have we all just accepted fate now and agree that Season Four isn’t coming on June 20?” one fan posted. “Are bets for after the Olympics, which would be Aug. 8 or 15 for a [premiere]?”
Not Many Olympics Watchers Among ‘Yellowstone’ Fans
If there are “Yellowstone” fans who would rather see the Olympics, they’re not speaking up on Reddit. Opinion there ran strongly in favor of an earlier “Yellowstone” premiere, Olympics be damned.
“If it is because of the Olympics I say start the show let us see the results of the finale cliffhanger then just skip the 2 Sundays during the Olympics,” another fan posted. “I can’t believe the Olympics can’t deal with the competition for 2 hours. One hour per week!! Get real.”
Yet another fan chimed in to say they did not even plan to watch the Olympics at all. And there is some question as to how much of the “Yellowstone” audience would drop their beloved show to watch the Tokyo games instead.
“I think the Olympics is the excuse they will use for the delay,” another fan chimed in. “However, I don’t think it is the cause of the delay. It is just the nice convenient excuse they will use. It also doesn’t explain the silence. If it is because of the Olympics, why don’t they just go ahead and announce the date?”
Still, not all “Yellowstone” fans are climbing the walls waiting for Season 4. One fan gave voice to that patient minority with a terse post toward the end of the thread.
“Jesus Christ…..relax….. It will come out,” the fan posted.
Still, it’s easy to understand why some fans are chafing at the wait. Season 3 of “Yellowstone” ended on a major cliffhanger. With the fate of four major characters – John Dutton (Kevin Costner), Beth Dutton (Kelly Reilly), Kayce Dutton (Luke Grimes) and Jimmy Hurdstrom (Jefferson White) – up in the air, “Yellowstone” fans have probably never had to handle as much suspense as they have since the Season 3 finale.
Unfortunately, there’s only one way to find out what happens next, and that’s to tune in to Season 4 whenever it does eventually – and finally – air.
