In addition to the recently announced “Yellowstone” prequel “Y:1883” and spinoff “6666,” Taylor Sheridan has more to share. According to reports, he also has two other television series in the works.
Both Variety.com and Deadline.com are reporting that the two new Taylor Sheridan shows just announced are “Mayor of Kingstown” and “Land Man.”
Without a doubt, “Yellowstone” fans are jumping at joy at this news. Executives are also very excited to bring more of Taylor Sheridan’s content to viewers. Here’s a comment from a leader at the MTV Entertainment Group:
“‘Yellowstone‘ is the #1 show with tens of millions of fans based on the characters Taylor has created and his gift for world building,” said Chris McCarthy, President, MTV Entertainment Group, according to Deadline. “With Paramount+, our strategy is to supercharge subscribers by franchising our biggest hit IP like we’re doing with Yellowstone prequel ‘Y:1883’ and build new IP with marquee creative talent like Taylor.”
The CEO of 101 Studios also expressed excitement about Sheridan and the new shows:
“Taylor, Paramount+ and MTV Entertainment Studios have been incredible partners to us at 101 over the years,” said David Glasser, CEO of 101 Studios, according to Deadline. “Together, we have been able to build ‘Yellowstone’ into an immersive universe for audiences globally. And that is what we intend to do with these series as well. We will be introducing new characters and storylines alongside world-class talent and creators. We are very much looking forward to bringing these shows to life.”
Taylor Sheridan Releasing New Series “Mayor of Kingstown”
According to Deadline, movie star Jeremy Renner will star in Taylor Sheridan’s new series, “Mayor of Kingstown.”
This new show will center around the McLusky family of Kingstown, Michigan. They are major players in their community thanks to their roles in the prison business. Deadline also describes the series as: “Tackling themes of systemic racism, corruption and inequality, the series provides a stark look at their attempt to bring order and justice to a town that has neither.”
Serving as executive producers on “Mayor of Kingstown” will be Sheridan, Hugh Dillon, Renner, Antoine Fuqua, David Glasser, Ron Burkle, Bob Yari and Michael Friedman, according to Deadline.
“Land Man” Other Recently Announced Sheridan Show
According to Variety, “Land Man” will take place in a boomtown in West Texas. This new Taylor Sheridan show is reportedly “a modern-day tale of fortune-seeking in the world of oil rigs.”
The new show will look at both the rich people who are behind the oil. It will also follow the individuals who work for them. Variety also describes the series as “an upstairs/downstairs story of roughnecks and wildcat billionaires fueling a boom so big, it’s reshaping our climate, our economy and our geopolitics.”
Working as producers on “Land Man” will be David Glasser, Ron Burkle, and Bob Yari, according to Variety. Sheridan will be the executive producer of “Land Man.”
