In an interview with Larry King back in 2012, Betty White revealed that Robert Redford was her biggest crush. The ageless wonder turned 99 a couple of weeks ago and still has her sense of humor. She let that sense of humor absolutely rip on this Larry King interview from 2012.
“He’s such a class act,” Betty White told Larry King about ‘meeting’ Robert Redford. “He wrote me this note and congratulated me when I got this award. He wrote me a poem and the poem was so funny. Just the fact that he was enough aware of me the poem and write me the note, it made my day, it made my year, it made my life.”
The actress and comedian also joked about how often she would use Robert Redford as the answer to a question. “I thanked him profusely and told him I would stop using his name in vain,” she said. The devilishly handsome actor definitely has a key to Betty White’s heart with that smile.
At one point, Larry King remembered Betty White said that if Robert Redford had shown up at her door, he would make it way farther than the door.
“Yes he would,” she responded. “He certainly would. We might not get all the way upstairs, but he would certainly get farther than the door. It’s a matter of how much time he has.”
Betty White Turns 99
99 is a huge landmark for age. You can no longer play with some LEGO sets, you are one year away from triple digits, it’s just a very exciting birthday. Betty White, however, celebrated by staying up as late as she wanted to. In an interview with the Associated Press, Betty White joked “Since I am turning 99, I can stay up as late as I want without asking permission.”
Betty White enjoyed a low key birthday celebration this year due to the pandemic. That seems to be the case with most people for fear of spreading the disease.
The actress revealed on her interview with the Associated Press that she looked forward to visiting friends and animals once the pandemic is over. She also provided an insightful piece of advice for everyone.
“Don’t take yourself too seriously,” she said. “You can lie to others — not that I would — but you cannot lie to yourself.”
