Willie Nelson’s annual Fourth of July picnic celebration will continue this year as a virtual event due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
Willie’s concert will take place on July 4 at 3:30 PM CT on the event’s website. Tickets for the event will go on sale on Monday (June 29) at 12 PM CT.
Tickets cost $35 prior to the event and $45 the day of. One dollar from each ticket sold will be directly supporting The Luck Reunion Fund. The fund benefits Central Texas Food Bank, SIMS Foundation, All Together ATX, Health Alliance For Austin Musicians, and Six Square (Austin’s Black Cultural District). Subsequently, event sponsor Budweiser along with Michelob Ultra and Karbach Love Street will be matching donations.
Although you can’t experience all of the typical delicious foods that the event has to offer, the event will be selling partner packages where food and beverages will be delivered straight to your door prior to the event’s kick-off. Fans who purchase the packages will get the finest delicacies from Assembly Kitchen, Austin Food and Wine Alliance grant recipients, as well as Sourced Craft Cocktails.
What Fans Can Expect
The event will begin with an episode of Prime Cuts hosted by Chef Scott Roberts of Salt Lick BBQ. After the cooking portion, the live-streamed concert from Luck’s Saloon and Chapel stage will follow. The event will also include a 90-minute concert film and past performances from previous years. Fans will also get to watch interviews with artists from the event’s 47-year history.
Willie Nelson & Family will perform live at Willie’s Pedernales Studios in Texas. Other performers include Sheryl Crow, Ziggy Marley, Margo Price, Steve Earle, Lyle Lovett, Lukas Nelson & Promise of the Real, Kurt Vile, Asleep At The Wheel, Charley Crockett, Kinky Friedman, Robert Earl Keen, Ray Wylie Hubbard, Shakey Graves, and Particle Kid.
“Our goal with the 2020 Picnic is to bring it back to what it was—in the only way we can during these times,” Ellee Fletcher Durniak, co-founder of Luck Productions said in a press release. “We were set to host this year’s event at Luck, to welcome the Picnic back to its hill country home. The Picnic is really one of a kind, it has always been scrappy. Cars on fire. Mass arrests. You name it…it happened at the Picnic.”
On July 3, Willie will release his latest studio album, First Rose of Spring. Willie and his sister, Bobbie Nelson, will be releasing a memoir on September 15.
