For all those fans of outdoor music festivals, it’s going to be another long year as Coachella and Stagecoach have canceled their plans.
Yes, they’ve been shut down due to COVID-19 that’s been ripping through California. Riverside County Public Health Officer Dr. Cameron Kaiser made the announcement on Friday.
Coachella and Stagecoach have been April staples for music festival goers as well as performers in recent years. They have been places for bands to have breakout performances, while established groups find a place in the lineups too.
Kaiser said it would not be safe for people to come in the area as the coronavirus pandemic continues to affect many people.
Both festivals were reportedly planning to take part last October, but COVID-19 put the stop on those plans.
Coachella bends toward rock and pop music acts, while Stagecoach is for country music acts. It is an annual music and arts festival held at the Empire Polo Club in Indio, Calif. It was co-founded in 1999 by Paul Tollet and Rick Van Santen.
Stagecoach happens to be the sister event to Coachella, held the following weekend also at the Empire Polo Club.
Stagecoach Was Hot Place For Shania Twain In 2017
While the Stagecoach Country Music Festival is not happening, memories of times gone by remain. One of those involves singer-songwriter Shania Twain.
Twain was the headline performance in 2017 on the Mane Stage, hitting it on the festival’s second night.
It’s wild because it was the first time in 11 years since Twain went out on tour and even 15 years since she released an album.
Her set was electrifying, starting with “Rock This Country” and following it up with “Honey, I’m Home” and “You Win My Love.”
Other songs on Twain’s setlist that night were “Whose Bed Have Your Boots Been Under,” “I Ain’t No Quitter,” and “Love Gets Me Every Time.”
Shania Twain Brings The House Down With Closing Song
But Twain didn’t disappoint her fans at all. It was an amazing set with Kelsea Ballerini and Nick Jonas also doing duets with her.
What song do you think Twain closed out her show with that night? With none other than “Man! I Feel Like A Woman.”
Ah, music festivals can bring together magical moments like having an old-school pro like Shania Twain wow the crowd.
Take a look at Twain performing “Man! I Feel Like A Woman” at Stagecoach in 2017. At least we have these memories to hang on to at this moment until festivals come back.
