Former NFL Quarterback Jay Cutler seems to have made his selection of who to endorse in the upcoming presidential election.
On Instagram, Cutler reposts a Donald Trump endorsement from legendary Golfer Jack Nicklaus, according to Fox News. In the caption of Nicklaus’ lengthy endorsement letter, Cutler writes “Sign Me Up.” He also reposted a post from Trump on the endorsement with the caption “Never a doubt.”
Cutler Shares Nicklaus’ Endorsement Letter
Cutler, a former Pro Bowl quarterback, spent time in the NFL with the Denver Broncos, Chicago Bears and Miami Dolphins. The 37-year-old last played in the NFL in 2017 as a member of the Dolphins. He started 153 games in his career and finished with a passer rating 85.3.
While Cutler has yet to clarify his stance on supporting Trump, he also supported the president in 2016 when he ran against Hillary Clinton. After the election, he told ESPN that he is indeed a Trump backer.
“I am happy with the results,” he says. “I have supported Trump for a while. I’m not going to dive into it. I know it is a sensitive issue. I like where it’s going.”
The 80-year-old Nicklaus says he will endorse Trump earlier this week. The 18-time major winner posted on social media that he has cast his vote for Trump and urges others to do the same.
“Through the years i have been blessed to personally know several presidents on both sides of the aisle,” he starts. “All were good people. All loved their country. And all believe in the American Dream.”
Nicklaus then begins his endorsement of Trump by saying the president has put the country first.
“This is not a personality contest; it’s about patriotism,” he continues. “His love for America and its citizens, and putting his country first, has come through loud and clear. What has been important are his actions. Now, you have the opportunity to take action.”
