‘Golden Girls’: Take a Tour of Estelle Getty’s Former Home That Recently Hit Market for $6.9 Million

Estelle Getty, the late actress who starred in the hit series “The Golden Girls,” has recently made headlines after her house was put on the market on Monday. For a cool $6.89 million, you could upgrade your digs and move into the lavish pad.

For years, Getty starred alongside Betty White, playing Sophia Petrillo in the beloved TV sitcom. Before passing away in 2008, she owned the home for close to seven years after buying it in 1994. In 2001, Estelle Getty sold the five-bedroom house for just under $1.5 million, according to records.

Built in 1948, the property spans 4,356 square feet. The Hollywood Hills home sits just above the city’s famous Sunset Boulevard. The five bedroom, five bathroom, 4,356 square feet home is located on North Wetherly Drive in Hollywood.

The home offers an incredible amount of privacy. It’s also adorned with 12-foot hedges and a double-gated driveway, making it the perfect house for her anyone trying to steer clear of the public eye.

Once on the other side of the gate, freshly manicured lawns and beautiful gardens greet you before entering the home. Inside, you come down a black and white marble entry that leads you in her living room with bright windows, crown moldings, and a wood-burning fireplace.

A formal dining room is perfect for entertaining, as it seats up to 12. The house also includes a large family room with a fireplace, breakfast area, and chef’s kitchen equipped with professional appliances.

The kitchen includes stunning limestone floors and rare Brazilian granite countertops. It also comes equipped with a walk-in pantry and an attached laundry room with a separate entrance.

The master bedroom suite greets you with vaulted ceilings, a walk-in closet, and French doors opening onto the pristine and private backyard on the other side of the house. The en-suite bathroom includes a steam shower, spa-style tub, and heated floors.

Downstairs, there’s a temperature-controlled wine cellar, an office, a gym, and a full bath that opens onto a patio. Of course, no Hollywood home would be complete without a stunning pool. When you want to take a dip, you’ve got a beautiful, crystal blue inground pool.

“The owners, when they saw the house, fell in love with it for a number of reasons,” said Paul Lester of The Agency, who shares the listing with his colleague Aileen Comora. “What they loved when they first saw it was the privacy and the large yard and pool—almost like a resort pool.”

There’s also a dog run, garden, and outdoor area that comes equipped with a bar, sink, refrigerator, and built-in cabinets.
