Johnny Gilbert is 92 years old and could absolutely be a retired man at this point in his career. But, his love of announcing has kept him working.
He began his career all the way back in the 1950s. He has been working for almost 80 years, starting his career as a nightclub singer and entertainer. Afterward, he began his transition to television by hosting and announcing several different game shows.
Johnny Gilbert seems to somehow untie the best of the old game shows with the best of today. His voice alone is an iconic mark and won’t soon be forgotten by anyone who has watched Jeopardy! He has long been a staple of the show and will likely continue to be until he can’t work any longer.
Fans of Jeopardy! were incredibly thankful that Mike Richards, who is also the producer of the game show, gave him a shoutout. His work often goes under the radar but is incredibly important for the show. One Twitter user made sure to point out how good Johnny Gilbert is at his job.
