Singer and “The Voice” judge John Legend took to social media on Tuesday to congratulate his co-judges, Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani, on their engagement.
Shelton and Stefani made things official Tuesday, announcing their engagement to the world.
“Hey @gwenstefani thanks for saving my 2020 and the rest of my life,” Shelton tweets of the occasion. “I love you. I heard a Yes!”
Legend, a close friend of both, was among the first to congratulate the couple on their engagement.
“Congratulations!” he says in the Tweet. “Amazing news!!!”
The couple shared the news on Twitter and on Instagram, posting a photo of Stefani showing off her new engagement ring.
Shelton and Stefani Tying the Knot
The two “Voice” coaches met on the show’s set in 2015, according to CNN. They started off as friends but would later become a romantic couple to the delight of music fans of all genres.
The two music icons have collaborated on several songs during their relationship. They have written and performed songs dedicated to each other on numerous occasions. Shelton’s songs “Turnin’ Me On” is about Stefani, and Stefani’s 2016 hit, “Make Me Love You” is about Shelton.
Shelton and Stefani have performed together several times and have recorded three duets. They are “Go Ahead and Break My Heart,” “If I’m Honest” and “You Make It Feel Like Christmas.” Additionally, Shelton’s most recent hit, “Happy Anywhere,” features Stefani.
Stefani shares three children with her ex-husband, Bush Frontman Gavin Rosdale. The names of their children are Kingston, Zuma and Apollo. Shelton was once married to fellow country singer Miranda Lambert but the couple separated in 2015.
While both already possess successful careers, the couple’s marriage promises to push them further into the spotlight. The couple also recently began filming the new season for their television talents Show. During COVID-19, Shelton and Stefani spent time together in Shelton’s Oklahoma ranch. They recently purchased a new home in Encino, California, for over $13 million.
