You never know what throwback item McDonald’s will bring back next. Later this year, the famous fast food restaurant chain is bringing back a very popular drink to its menu.
On Wednesday (Feb. 10) the restaurant chain announced on its Twitter page that Hi-C Orange will soon be available. “Y’ALL WE DID IT,” the tweet said. “Hi-C Orange is coming back.” The comment was part of a retweet from the restaurant’s marketing department.
That original tweet said: “Nice presentation. Hi-C Orange Lavaburst will officially come back on the menu at all U.S. restaurants by this summer 2021. Please stop emailing me about his now.”

Around 5 p.m. on Wednesday, the tweet from McDonald’s VP of marketing had received almost 17,000 retweets and more than 80,000 likes. Twitter users also shared their thoughts via comments on the social media platform. Some were very positive about the return of Hi-C, others were just trolling the fast-food chain and asked for other items to return to the menu.
“Wait…. Is this real!!!! If you play with my heart again I am leaving you and I’m taking the kids,” one user posted.
“My kids will be happy about the Hi-C. I’d be happy if they brought those cookies back!!!” another user said. “McDonalds should send you a gift for sharing and making us all reminisce and feel good today. It’s great advertising. I’ll be stopping by the drive-thru for dinner!!!!”
“The day of Fish McBites is upon us. Soon the world will rejoice to McDonald’s Fishy Fishy might. RISE WITH ME FELLOW FISH MCBITERS! LETS TAKE BACK WHAT WAS ONCE OURS! #BringBackFishMcBites” one tweeted request said.

McDonald’s Bringing Back Another Other Popular Menu Item
In addition to Hi-C returning to its menu, McDonald’s has also recently brought back its popular Spicy Chicken McNuggets.
McDonald’s debuted its Spicy Chicken McNuggets in September 2020. The new menu item was a hit and went viral very quickly. That positive response led the fast-food chain to put them back on the menu – albeit for a brief time.
McDonald’s is also currently running a new promotion called “Throwback Thursday.”
This promotion is reportedly celebrating the lower prices diners paid years and years ago. The special discounts include popular menu items that are 35 cents or less.
The Throwback Thursday promotion will run until Feb. 18, according to the report. In order to be eligible for the discount, you must purchase at least $1 on the McDonald’s app. After that, the menu item of the day will be available at a very discounted rate.
Maybe fast food is bad for you. But, there’s something so nostalgic about it, especially McDonald’s. It’s a safe bet to assume that we all have memories of dining there with our parents or grandparents.
We remember playing on the playground and taking a break from that fun to grab a few french fries off our trays. We remember going through the drive-thru with our parents for a quick snack after school or on our way to practice whatever sport we were playing that season. McDonald’s is part of the American experience.
It’s nostalgic, with Hi-C or without it. But, it’s probably better with Hi-C.
