‘Wheel of Fortune’: Pat Sajak Jokes About Netting ‘Over a Billion’ on Twitter’s New Super Follows Feature

“Wheel of Fortune” host Pat Sajak takes a jab at Twitter and its newest feature. His latest tweet poked fun at the social media platform.

Sajak revealed he planned to turn Twitter’s new Super Follower feature into a money-making scheme. The game show host joked that followers should prepare to pay him $1,000 a month. Of course, in his aim to become a billionaire, Sajak is feeling generous as well. He said he’d donate 2 percent of the proceeds to charity.

On Twitter, Sajak wrote, “Excited about Twitter’s new Super Follows plan. Leaning toward charging $1,000 per month or just $10,000 for a full year. If just half my followers take the yearly option, that will net me well over a billion dollars. But I pledge 2% to charity.”

Twitter’s Super Follower feature is the newest option the social media platform unveiled. Accounts can now charge their followers a premium for extra features. Possible perks include bonus tweets, an exclusive community group, subscription to a newsletter, or a badge of support. So far, people have had mixed reactions on the Super Follower feature. Some critics believe monetizing followers will split an account’s fanbase. Likewise, others have said they are unwilling to pay for content on the social media service.

Pat Sajak Faces Backlash

Of course, it hasn’t all been lighthearted jokes for Sajak recently. Some online users have recently criticized the “Wheel of Fortune” host for being insensitive. One of Sajak’s jokes during a recent episode has caused backlash for the host. Sajak reportedly mocked a contestant’s speech impediment.

Chris Brimble recently appeared on the game show. The contestant had a slight lisp. A lisp is a speech impediment that makes it difficult to pronounce s-sounds. Instead, s-sounds come out as th-sounds. During the opening remarks of the episode, Sajak told him “Ah, I thee” instead of “Ah, I see.”

While the contestant laughed off the exchange, several viewers caught the exchange and called out the host. They criticized Sajak for mocking Brimble. Since the episode aired, some viewers have even called for “Wheel of Fortune” to fire the longstanding host.

Neither “Wheel of Fortune” nor Sajak have commented on the controversy so far.
