Patrick Mahomes Sustains Head Injury, Uncertain for AFC Championship
During Sunday’s divisional-round playoff game, the Super Bowl-winning quarterback was hit by Mack Wilson of the Cleveland Browns. In a video that’s hard to watch, Patrick Mahomes struggles to get to his feet. The 25-year-old is no doubtfully dizzy from the blow. Mahomes had to be helped off the field. He then ran, very uneasily, to the locker room.
After the hit, the Chiefs confirmed on Twitter that Mahomes was “being evaluated for a concussion.”
Mahomes also shared a message for fans on Twitter, posting, “#HenneThingIsPossible.” A reference to the backup quarterback’s name. However, he first took the time to respond to the football player the dealt the damaging hit.
“All good brother!” Patrick Mahomes II responds to Mack Wilson’s tweet. “Prayers to @PatrickMahomes . I pray you back next week! Go be great like you have been!” Wilson originally shares.
Sporting News shares that the Kansas City Chief quarterback could be good to go for the AFC Championship this coming Sunday. Chiefs head coach Andy Reid said postgame that Mahomes is doing well and that he passed all the preliminary tests. However, he will still be monitored up until game time, meaning Mahomes will have to pass the concussion protocol.
As a matter of fact, the Chiefs took the win from the Browns 22-17.
