The Chicago Bears have officially named Mitch Trubisky the starter for this Sunday’s game against the Green Bay Packers.

The Bears are turning back to Trubisky this weekend who hasn’t thrown a pass since being benched in Week 3 in Atlanta. Further, he has played only one snap over the past eight weeks — a 3-yard first-quarter run against the New Orleans Saints that left him with a right shoulder injury. That hit knocked him out of action for two weeks.

However, Chicago will prepare to ready him to be their starting quarterback for Sunday’s Week 12 game against the Packers at Lambeau Field.

ESPN Senior NFL Insider Adam Schefter broke the news early this after noon on social media.

“Bears’ HC Matt Nagy officially named Mitch Trubisky as the starting QB for Sunday’s game vs. Green Bay,” Schefter wrote on Twitter.

The Chicago Bears official Twitter account confirmed the change at quarterback as well.

“Coach Nagy has confirmed that Mitch Trubisky will be our starter this Sunday vs. Green Bay,” the Bears Twitter account wrote.

Bears’ head coach Matt Nagy also added, “We’re excited that Mitch is ready and it’s an opportunity for him.”

Fans React to Chicago Bears Naming Mitch Trubisky Starter

NFL fans on social media were going crazy after the Bears made the switch from Nick Foles to Mitch Trubisky. For some Bears fans, the news was a welcomed sight.

One fan wrote, ” YEEEEEAAAAAAAHHHH,” while another says, “LETS GOOO.”

Another fan wrote, “HES BACKKKKK,”alongside a gif of the Bears QB smiling with a football.

However, not everyone on Twitter was optimistic about the change. One user stated that this could be the last time Trubisky has to prove he should be the team’s quarterback moving forward.

“Last chance to save his job,” he says.

One Bears fan seems outright frustrated by the whole situation. He sent a reply saying as much, and even provided a guess at what the score will be on Sunday.

“Frustrated Bears fan here. GB-41 CHI-16.”
