Don Jackson, Wrestler Known as ‘Mississippi Madman,’ Has Died

Affectionately known as the ‘Mississippi Madman,’ Don Jackson, was an SCW, AAPW, and PWE champion and ZERO1 Hall of Famer.

Wrestling fans the world over are mourning the loss of beloved pro Don Jackson. SCW Pro Wrestling confirms his passing today, with Jackson leaving us Monday, February 15, 2021.

“It is with deep sadness that we inform the SCWPro fans of the passing of former SCW Champion, Mississippi Madman, known to friends & family as Don Jackson,” SWC laments. “A giant in our world, his large frame was only matched by the size of his kind heart. He will be greatly missed.” 

Jackson had battled illness since 2019. On Monday, he sought out medical attention, before passing away in his hospital. As of Tuesday, his cause of death is unknown.

A testament to his stature and status as a beloved icon, wrestling stars and organizations are pouring out their respects for the Mississippi Madman.

“Rest easy, ‘Mississippi Madman’ Don Jackson. The big man with an even bigger heart,” tweets WWE star Mustafa Ali.

In addition, “The [AAW Family] would like to send our most sincere condolences to the family and friends of ‘The Mississippi Madman’ Don Jackson who passed away today,” states the AAW. “Don wrestled for AAW in 2006 and we are truly saddened by his passing. May he Rest In Peace.”

Jackson began his wrestling career at the turn of the century. Quickly making a name for himself, he became a regular SCW (Scott County Wrestling, Iowa) Pro in the 2000s. He would eventually become SCW Heavyweight Champion, creating waves of loyal, loving fans in the process.

Furthermore, Jackson would go on to work with AAW Pro, IWA Mid-South, New Midwest Wrestling, Pro Wrestling Epic, All-American Pro Wrestling, and ZERO1 USA, PopCulture cites. In addition, Don Jackson was also AAPW heavyweight champion, alongside a 300-day reign as a PWE champion.

In January 2020 he became – and will forever be- a ZERO1 Hall of Famer. Rest in Peace, Mississippi Madman. Our sincere condolences from all sports fans at Outsider.com.
