Legendary golfer Jack Nicklaus put a video on Twitter earlier today of him driving down the beautiful Magnolia Lane, the entrance to Augusta National and The Masters.
“Be it April or November, this is a moment for all seasons! 61 years after my first Masters, the drive down Magnolia Lane never gets old — even as I do. @TheMasters week is underway!”
Upon approaching the club house, the six-time Masters champ reminisces about his playing days.
“It’s so nice and beautiful. Magnolia Lane looks the same as it did back in 1959!” Nicklaus says. He then greets security and makes his way to the clubhouse.
“Magnolia Lane as beautiful as ever, too bad there’s nobody here except us,” the golf legend says.
The 2020 Masters will begin this Thursday and will run to Sunday.
Furthermore, according to Augusta National chairman Fred Ridley, Jack Nicklaus will join Lee Elder and Gary Player as Honorary Starters in the annual ceremony at the 2021 Masters.
Jack Nicklaus Questions U.S. COVID-19 Death Toll
The Golden Bear thinks the COVID-19 pandemic and death toll are being blown out of proportion. The 80-year-old recently told the Palm Beach Post that he didn’t trust the figures being given by the media.
Nicklaus told the paper he and his wife both Barbara tested positive back in March. He got a sore throat and cough, but his wife had symptoms.
“Sure, I was concerned,” he said. “I took hydroxychloroquine. Gone in two days.”
However, Nicklaus went further than just questioning the severity the virus. He thinks the pandemic is being blown out of proportion by the media.
“I don’t think the deaths are a correct number,” he says. “I hate to say that.”
President Donald Trump has made similar claims of inflated COVID-19 numbers at his rallies but has offered little evidence to support that.
Nicklaus said he believes Trump has done as well as any president would have done during the pandemic, adding that Trump’s actions saved a lot of lives. Nicklaus endorsed Trump in the 2020 presidential election.
