It’s official: five-time world champion Floyd Mayweather will face off with YouTube creator Logan Paul for a one-of-a-kind exhibition match.

On Tuesday, Mayweather announced via Instagram that the match would be at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami on June 6. “Mayweather Promotions, Fanmio, and Showtime Boxing have come together to bring an epic event,” wrote the 44-year-old boxing legend.

The Mayweather-Paul fight had been initially scheduled for Feb. 20 but was postponed indefinitely due to the coronavirus pandemic. At the time, COVID-19 protocols would not allow a full stadium. However, as many continue to get vaccinated, there should be more fans in attendance for the June date.

According to the terms, Mayweather will be required to weigh in under 160 pounds. Paul can come in under 190 pounds. The last time the 44-year-old entered the ring was on New Year’s Eve 2018. That night, he defeated Japanese kickboxer Tenshin Nasukawa via first-round TKO in an exhibition match.

Mayweather also fought in 2017 when he took on UFC fighter Conor McGregor before coming out victorious for his 50th victory.

For Paul, the 26-year-old’s boxing career consists of two matches: one exhibition and one professional against fellow YouTuber star, KSI— both of which he lost. It’s abundantly clear that Mayweather is the fan-favorite and has much better odds for a win than Paul. Even Paul’s brother Jake said that the match is a “terrible idea.”

Floyd Mayweather Boasts Impressive 50-0 Record

Mayweather has won titles as a junior lightweight, lightweight, junior welterweight, welterweight, and junior middleweight. He currently sits at 50-0 with 27 KOs.

Speaking to, Mayweather Promotions CEO Leonard Ellerbe said: “Stay tuned. Everything we’ve done with Floyd has always set the standard. Always leading by example,” notes Ellerbe of his longtime close friend and business partner. “Even with Conor McGregor, that fight generated the second highest revenue total in the history of the sport. That was four years ago, people are still talking about that night. People are still trying to find a way to bring Conor McGregor back to the sport.”

Mayweather Promotions also billed the contest as a “historic crossover event” dubbed “Bragging Rights.” The announcement gave no further information about specifics, such as the number of rounds or what size gloves would be used.

According to Paul’s sparring partner, Mayweather is keeping the details of the fight hidden from Paul.

“Floyd Mayweather is keeping people guessing about rule changes until the last minute. We don’t know what to expect,” said Lozano. “The team discussed the size of gloves before, they really don’t know what to expect from this guy Floyd.”
