Retired NASCAR great Jimmie Johnson took to social media Tuesday morning to wish Drew Brees well in his recovery. The New Orleans Saint quarterback suffered a serious injury on Sunday playing against the San Francisco 49ers. Johnson, who recently finished up his last racing season, tweeted a rather simplistic message to Brees.

“Get well @drewbrees,” the racing legend tweets. Many of Johnson’s social media followers appreciate the driver’s kind words to the New Orleans quarterback.

“My all time favorite driver is a fan of my all time favorite NFL player,” the fan tweets. “I learn something new everyday.”

“Thats pretty cool to see this coming from on (goat emoji) to another (goat emoji),” another fan writes. Goat is slang for “Greatest of all Time.” Calling someone “goat” is quite the compliment and both Brees and Johnson are considered “goats” in their respective sports.

Johnson Wishes Brees Well in Rib Injury Recovery

Brees is recovering from multiple injuries sustained over the last two weeks of play. ESPN NFL reporter Ed Werder says Brees expects to miss some game time as he recovers. Taysom Hill, a former undrafted free agent and Brees’ backup, is expected to start in his place.

“Source: results of medical evaluations performed today on #Saints quarterback Drew Brees revealed that he has multiple rib fractures on both sides of his chest and a collapsed lung on the right side. Injuries suffered over two weeks. It is uncertain how much time he might miss.”

The quarterback also took to social media this week to tell fans he is in recovery and “will be back in no time.”
