The latest quarterback to go down is New York Giants’, Daniel Jones. In the seemingly never-ending carousel at quarterback around the NFL this year, Jones is the newest member of the club.
During Sunday’s game against the Cincinnati Bengals, Jones sustained an injury to his hamstring. Giants fans are holding their breath.
Earlier this year, the Giants lost Saquon Barkley to a devastating season-ending injury, Jones has carried the team. During the game, Adam Schefter tweeted out the news.
Jones slid to the turf while being tackled in the open field. Although he handed off the next snap to his running back, he grabbed at his right leg and limped back to the line of scrimmage. He completed the third-down conversion and then took a knee on the field.
Trainers rushed out to attend to their quarterback. He left the game afterward. Colt McCoy began warming up immediately and quickly took over for Jones.
Most people didn’t even know that McCoy was the backup. But that problem seemed minor as Jones went down with an apparent hamstring injury. Once he was evaluated by the team doctors, Jones was listed as questionable for return.
Losing Jones for any amount of time or games will seriously hurt the Giants’ chances to make the playoffs. As of week 12, the Giants lead the NFC East, even with a record of 4-7. Now, the job falls to McCoy. McCoy enters the game with a 13-10 lead.
Jones Causes Twitter Melee
Giants fans are certainly upset by the news. To express their disappointment with the news, people took to Twitter.
One fan apparently thinks that now would be a great time for Eli Manning to come out of retirement. This person isn’t optimistic about their chances with McCoy at the helm.
Another fan pokes fun at Colt McCoy.
Colt McCoy makes his second appearance on an NFL field since breaking his leg back in 2018. As the game concludes, the Giants will pull out a much-needed win. Despite losing their starting quarterback, the Giants’ chances of entering the playoffs increase.
