Patrick Mahomes and fiancée Brittany Matthews rocked their Royals gear to attend MLB’s opening day on Thursday. Even baby Sterling Skye tagged along in a tiny Patrick Mahomes jersey shirt.

Matthews posted the shot from one of the stadium’s luxury boxes on her Instagram with the hashtag #GoRoyals.

The Kansas City quarterback has got to show support for the home team.

Mahomes, Matthews Celebrate 9th Anniversary

Patrick Mahomes and Brittany Matthews met at Whitehouse High School in Tyler, Texas. The two were both standout athletes. Mahomes led the football team, while Matthews was a talented forward with a great left leg. They started dating on April 1, 2012.

But while most of these types of young romances end at the final bell of high school, this one wasn’t like that. In fact, they stayed together through what must have been some trying times. Matthews went on to play soccer at the University of Texas-Tyler while Mahomes went to Texas Tech about 450 miles away. But they made it work.

When the Chiefs drafted Mahomes in 2017, she was by his side. And when a pro soccer team in Iceland signed Matthews, Mahomes was there. He even went to stay with her for a little bit before the start of the NFL season that year. Matthews joined late in the season and only played six games for the team, but she still proved to be a smart pick-up. She scored twice and played well.

She hung up her cleats — at least professionally — and moved to Kansas City permanently after the season. She’s been a mainstay at every Chiefs game since. She would wait for him on the sidelines after games, and no matter what, Mahomes searches for her for a hug after win or loss. It’s actually pretty adorable.

The couple got engaged last year. Mahomes gave her a ring on the same day the Chiefs handed him his Super Bowl ring. They plan to get married soon and have reportedly set a date, though they haven’t released when it will be.

They gave birth to their first child, Sterling Skye, earlier this year.
