Shaquille O’Neal Says Conor McGregor and Nate Diaz Should Be Next Fight for Both

Shaq calls for a rematch between UFC fighters Conor McGregor and Nate Diaz to earn the name “Notorious.”

On March 5, 2016, Conor McGregor, who had a record of 22-5-0, took on Nate Diaz, who had a record of 21-12-0. With four minutes left in Round two, Nate Diaz beat McGregor by submission.

The two welterweights had a rematch in August of 2016. After five rounds, it came down to the judge’s decision, who voted in favor of McGregor.

The fighters now each have a win under their belt against one another, and so Shaq chimed in to give his two cents. Saying he would like to see the two get in the octagon together once again.

“I would like to see Conor fight my guy Nate Diaz.”

Shaq also shared that he and Nate Diaz are close friends, saying they were “brothers,” and he “loves” him.

Shaq Calls For Round Three Between McGregor and Poirier

As for the fight that took place this past weekend, Conor McGregor was knocked out in the second round by lightweight American fighter Dustin Poirier.

Shaq is the type of athlete that can recognize real. Whether you want to admit it or not, McGregor is one of the best UFC fighters of all time, and Shaq isn’t afraid to admit that even if he is friends with Dustin Poirier.

“Conor’s a legend. I’m not going to disrespect him. You win some, you lose some, but my guy from Lafayette, Louisiana, he’s also a tough guy, and it was a great matchup. I’m not one of these guys, ‘he did this, he did that.’ I have no idea what it takes to be a champion like that, but I know that Conor has earned everyone respect and look, you win some, you lose some.”

In addition, the first time Conor McGregor went up against Dustin Poirier was in 2014. In this matchup, McGregor turned the light out on Poirier in the first round. Shaq believes these fighters should go head-to-head… or fist once again.

“You know, Dustin is also a guy. He lost the first time. I spend a lot of time in Lafayette, and I know a lot of people he trained with. He’s been thinking about this for the last six years. Conor beat him up pretty bad, and he has been wanting his revenge, and he got his revenge. So, the question is, will there be a part three or not? I think there should be a part three. I think they should.”

According to Sporting News, McGregor was the favorite to win coming into the event. We wonder who Shaq would put his money on if there was a round three.
