Free Guy was released earlier this month. Camille Kostek has been hyping the movie since she wore a sparkly halter dress to the premiere in New York. Get this, the gorgeous Kostek plays a character named “Bombshell.” Ryan Reynolds and Jodie Comer are the movie’s stars. Reynolds plays Guy, a bank teller who leads a pedestrian life in a video game. Then he meets Molotov Girl, played by Killing Eve’s Jodie Comer. In reality, she’s a game programmer.
In another Instagram post, Camille Kostek described her character this way: “Meet Bombshell! She has a thing for the bad guys. … wonder how long that will last.”
Free Guy is doing some rich movie things at the box office. In a report, Sunday, in CNBC, “word of mouth” is a very real reason the movie is doing so well. The film generated another $18.8 million in the domestic box office. It was only a 34 percent drop from the opening weekend. Hollywood analyzes everything, including the box office percentage drop from one weekend to the next. Here’s why a 34 percent is considered a great sign. Average movies drop from 50 to 60 percent.
“We don’t see 34% drops like this very often, particularly in the pandemic era,” Paul Dergarabedian, senior media analyst at Comscore, told CNBC.
The box office, so far, is $112 million. So Camille Kostek is associated with a nice project. It’s obvious Kostek is comfortable in front of the camera, whether the shots are still are for a video. She’s worked as a TV host, but this is her first big scripted part.
