Local police are investigating the death of former Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Vincent Jackson after he was found dead in Brandon, Florida.
According to local to WFLA anchor Josh Benson, the body of Vincent Jackson was discovered on Monday, February 15.
Further, the tweet reads:
“BREAKING (Awful). The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the death of former Tampa Bay Buccaneers player Vincent Jackson. Jackson, 38, was found deceased on Monday, February 15, 2021, at the Homewood Suites located at 10240 Palm River Road in Brandon, Florida”
It’s tragic news to hear that the former Tampa star has passed at such a young age No details on the nature of the death are currently available.
However, the official police report does provide some additional details. Jackson booked himself into the hotel he was staying in on January 11, and had been staying there ever since.
On February 10, members of Jackson’s family called local police to inform them he was missing. The next day, police talked to Jackson and canceled the case after deeming he was fine.
On February 15, he was discovered by a maid at the hotel. According to the report, there were no signs of trauma.
Career of Vincent Jackson
Jackson came into the league in the 2005 NFL Draft after a very successful career at Northern Colorado. Typically, a small school like the Greeley-based college makes it difficult to get a spot at the next level. However, Jackson’s talent and production was off the charts.
Taken as a second-round pick by the San Diego Chargers, Jackson spent 12 seasons in the league. Additionally, he had great success with the Chargers, including his first two Pro Bowl seasons in 2009 and 2011. In the 2008, 2009, and 2011 with the Chargers, he eclipsed 1000 receiving yards.
Afterwards, Jackson headed to the east coast. After his 2011 Pro Bowl season, he traded the Chargers for the Buccaneers. While he changed locations, his production didn’t slow down.
He made good for his Tampa team with another Pro Bowl selection in 2012, bringing eight touchdowns. He also totaled 1382 receiving yards as well as leading the NFL in yards per catch with 19.2 yards.
